Neighborhood Cooperative Home Security Company
Volunteers will help develop a complete business model for a home security company that works with neighbors to monitor security, at low cost and while keeping dollars circulating in the most local economy. Traditional home security companies require substantial monthly monitoring fees, but they are effectively sweeping those dollars out of the local economy while providing little value added to the neighborhoods they serve. An alternative model is a cooperative (member-owned) business, where as much as practical of all the business activity is localized.

The Problem this Project Addresses
Local economic sustainability needs business models that can thrive while supporting the local economy. This project addresses one business type that benefits from hyper-local economies of scale. Developing, testing, and proving this kind of business model can lead to multiple local and neighborhood scale cooperative businesses.
