Sustainability Fellow
Disciplinary Associations Network for Sustainability
Work with the founder and director of this network on your choice of projects from a list or possibilities to make education for sustainable development a norm within higher education. Examples of projects include: working with textbook editors, authors and faculty to integrate sustainable development concepts into curricula; disseminating sustainability-related action projects via our listservs to our 45+ academic societies; writing articles and announcements about sustainability curricula, research, and trends.
Overview of the Project Opportunity
DANS is always working on a variety of projects to help faculty integrate sustainability into the curricula, student activities, standards, and partnerships. Projects vary every few months, and with a commitment of 3 hours per week for at least eight months, students or volunteers can become a Sustainability Fellow.
The Problem this Project Addresses
In order to help create a better country and world, students need to understand our shared societal challenges regarding the environment, social well-being, and economic vibrancy. In addition to understanding these challenges, students need to be able to help create solutions.
The Impact of this Project
By working with the national and international academic societies, DANS helps faculty throughout the country educate students about our sustainability challenges and ways to research and participate in creating solutions.
